They can then use this information to personalise their customer experience or optimise their online advertising.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">More specifically, there are 4 types of cookies<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Internal cookies<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, which are hosted on the site and therefore do not share the information obtained with other external platforms;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.adictiz.com\/en\/blog\/cookieless-how-can-marketing-rise-to-the-challenge\/\" style=\"color: #000000;text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Third-party cookies<\/span><\/span><\/a> <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(the most controversial). The latter send the data to the external platforms of online shops (in particular advertising technology solutions);  <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Temporary cookies:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> only stored in the browser during the user&#8217;s session;<\/span> <\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Permanent cookies<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, which store information for future visits.<\/span> <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Cookies are therefore<\/span><b> a valuable source of information for brands<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> that want to analyse the behaviour of their potential customers and better understand consumer needs. They help to improve the purchasing process by providing relevant information at the right time. C\u2019est le cas de Google Chrome, mais aussi de Safari ou encore Firefox. Idem pour les applications mobiles, notamment depuis le lancement de l\u2019iOS 14, qui a introduit une protection plus radicale des donn\u00e9es de ses utilisateurs.    <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">New regulatory frameworks have also been put in place to regulate or even<\/span><b> abolish the use of cookies altogether.<\/b> <\/p>\n<p><b><\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Article 5(3) of Directive 2002\/58\/EC<\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">lays down the principle of prior consent from the user before information can be stored on his or her device or before information already stored on the device can be accessed.<\/span> <\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>The GDPR &#8211; General Data Protection Regulation <\/b><span>(and in particular articles 4(11) and 7) reaffirmed the need for user consent. It specifies that this consent must be free, specific, informed and unambiguous. It is becoming  <\/span><b>more difficult to <span style=\"color: #000000;text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.adictiz.com\/en\/blog\/why-collect-data\/\" style=\"color: #000000;text-decoration: underline\">collect data<\/a><\/span><\/span>,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and therefore to personalise content or even optimise advertising budgets.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">To get round these obstacles, companies are turning to<\/span><b> alternatives that no longer rely on third-party cookies<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. This has several advantages:<\/span> <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">That of<\/span><b> owning your own data<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and no longer being dependent on third parties.<\/span> <\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Companies are more active in collecting data, which enables them to<\/span><b> gather more authentic information<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. In fact, this data<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> is shared directly and more transparently by their customers or prospects (generally in exchange for a promise of value such as personalised offers or discounts).<\/span> <\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Organisations are taking a <b style=\"text-align: justify\">more ethical and respectful approach<\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">the privacy of their users. This includes, for example, declarative data that is shared voluntarily by users (when they fill in a form or sign up for a service\/subscription). Behavioral data collected on the advertiser&#8217;s website also falls into this category.   <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This data is therefore known as<\/span><b> \u2018proprietary\u2019 data<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, as opposed to second or third-party data (collected and shared by third parties).<\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">When it comes to acquiring data, companies will be concentrating on their internal databases. But also on  <\/span><b>new<\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.adictiz.com\/en\/all-the-mechanics\/\" style=\"color: #000000\"><b><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"> advertising technology solutions<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (particularly those powered by gamification).<\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Thanks to first-party data, they can continue to collect data. But above all, they will have access to more precise <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">and effective information, whether for email automation, the sending of web notifications or the creation of social media campaigns.<\/span>  <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">By respecting consumer demands for transparency, brands increase the likelihood that<\/span> <b>their audience will provide them with more information.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Their prospects and customers will have confidence in the way this data is used.
